The most caring neighbour

Created by Jocelyn 4 years ago
When it became obvious that our elderly neighbours were increasingly unable to care for themselves, Jo would regularly cook a meal for them and carry it over the road on a tray for them to eat hot.  Even after she had her diagnosis she did this at least a few times a week and at times every night. She took time to find out what food they liked and I’ve no doubt that she cooked separately for them many times.  One Friday night, just as I was looking forward to a cold G&T she rang my doorbell to say she was very worried about our neighbour and that she thought we should take him to the emergency doctor.  Sure enough it turned out he was indeed very poorly and needed to be admitted to hospital.  She did all she did with a huge heart of kindness, genuinely unseeking of recognition reward or thanks but just because of her steadfast belief in helping each other and being kind on every occasion she could.  We have lost the kindest and most beautiful friend anyone could wish for.  Jo we will miss you so much, and your generosity and acts of kindess will inspire me for as long as I live.
